Ambassador Sandhu Highlights Unique Opportunities and Unprecedented Cooperation

In a compelling address to the esteemed attendees of the annual India Ideas Summit hosted by the US India Business Council, India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, underscored the unparalleled nature of the India-US relationship. Describing it as a “partnership like no other,” Sandhu highlighted the mutually beneficial attributes that make this alliance a compelling investment opportunity.

Combining the United States’ extensive capital reserves and technological expertise with India’s unmatched scale and abundance of talent, the ambassador emphasized that this partnership is a stock that anyone can confidently bet on. This observation is reinforced by recent statistics that highlight the remarkable growth in bilateral ties between the two nations.

Over the past six months alone, a flurry of activities has invigorated the India-US relationship, with frequent delegations traveling between the two countries. Ambassador Sandhu mentioned the ongoing visit of NSA Jake Sullivan in India, illustrating the continued momentum and commitment to deepening collaboration.

Speaking about the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), Sandhu described it as a game changer that further solidifies the partnership. This initiative, launched earlier this year, has paved the way for strategic, commercial, and scientific convergence between the two nations.

Highlighting the upcoming historic visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Washington DC, Ambassador Sandhu emphasized the significance of this occasion. Prime Minister Modi will be accorded the prestigious honor of a State Visit by US President Joe Biden, marking only the third time in India’s independent history that its leader has received such recognition. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will address a joint session of the Congress for the second time, joining an exclusive group of world leaders. The Indian Ambassador underlined that this visit will provide a platform for crucial engagements and further strengthening of ties.

Addressing the audience, Ambassador Sandhu stressed the importance of diversifying supply chains and reducing dependence on a single geography, without explicitly naming any specific country. Drawing from geopolitical lessons, he urged American companies to build resilient, reliable, and sustainable supply chains. Sandhu cited success stories like Apple and its supplier Foxconn taking advantage of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes. Notably, it is projected that by 2025, one out of every four iPhones in the world will be manufactured in India.

The India-US partnership is on an upward trajectory, fueled by a shared vision and a deepening commitment to collaboration. With its vast potential and transformative initiatives, this alliance is setting new standards for international tech cooperation, making it a compelling narrative for tech enthusiasts and investors alike.
